Go Forward – Fast 2016 – Day 14

Day 14 – Courage to Stand Still – 14:13

13 And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have listened in on the conversation between God and Moses which leads us to this incredible statement of faith and courage found here in verse number 13. Outside the tent the people are melting at the sight of the thundering herd of chariots bearing down on their seemingly helpless location. Warriors have broken ranks and are beginning to run, cry and blame Moses for their coming defeat. The hearts of the people have now been filled with fear. But in the war room tent of Moses a very different scene is playing out. One can only imagine the intensity of the conversation as Moses relives the events which have brought him here; the bush which burned but was not consumed, the great “I AM” statement of God, the plagues and now led by the fire/cloud to this place, the prepared faith of Moses is built up into a great statement of courageous leadership.

Perhaps Moses came out of his tent and climbed up on a rock high enough for the people to see him and raised his voice and commanded the people to not be afraid and to have the courage to stand still and watch for God at work.

Allow your imagination to see the response of the people as they heard him speak. Some no doubt were calmed by his confidence. Some were no doubt irritated with his unwavering faith in God. Others just listened and hoped he was close to right.

The question for you today is, “Are you at the place where you trust God so much that you can be calm in the midst of fear?” Do you have the calm assurance that God really has it all under control? This might be easy when you see others facing battles but when the fight comes into your front yard how do you respond?

The human temptation is to try to solve the problem for your self – by yourself. But during this season of prayer and fasting God is asking you to Go Forward in your faith relationship with Him. Moving you forward to the place that you can stay calm in the face of spiritual danger and allow Him to be your salvation.

Just as earlier we talked about honoring God by our obedience now we are encouraged to trust God by our still-ness. God’s goal in this battle is for them to see the total elimination of their enemy. Prepare yourself to see God eliminate some of the challenges in your life.
