Go Forward – Fast 2016 – Day 16

Day 16 – Go Forward – Exodus 14:15-18

15 And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. 16 But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. 17 And I indeed will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them. So I will gain honor over Pharaoh and over all his army, his chariots, and his horsemen. 18 Then the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gained honor for Myself over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.”

Today’s passage takes a bit of a twist from the last few days. We have finally arrived at the verse which holds the theme for this season of prayer and fasting and perhaps the key to what God wants for His people. “Go Forward” this is as you can see preceded by a question, “why do you cry to me?” Moses goes in to God and His instruction for the Israelites is basically, stop crying and get up and do something. Move on with business.

There is another time we see something similar in scriptures. After a terrible defeat at Ai, Joshua falls down before God and is asking what is wrong, I am sure that there is some whining along with it. It is then that God tells him to get up and fix the problem. In both cases God does not leave the leaders to their own abilities but does something supernatural for them or should we say through them

Many times, even in a time of fasting, we get so centered on ourselves that we seem to forget that God moves upon us and into us so that we might minister to others. Here God has trained, gifted, and empowered Moses so that he might lead His people out of bondage and back into the land that He promised to Abraham. Church, it is also our responsibility to get up and do something with all God has done within us over the last 15 days and before. He has trained you, equipped you, led you, walked with you, instructed you and built up your faith not just so you can be all warm and fuzzy but so you can carry all of those blessings into the lives of others. There is a world of people around us who need to experience what you have. There are countless others around you every day who are hurting and need to experience the healing touch of God in their lives and they are waiting on you.

If there is one message that this command, “Go Forward” carries, it is to get up and do something with what God has given you! No more excuses. No more delays. Go!
