Send Me: Prayer & Fasting – Day 1 – 1-9-2017

Week One: Cleansing
Day 1 – Monday 1/9 – Cleanse my: Heart – remove my sins from me
Isaiah 6:1-8
1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. 2 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!” 4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.” 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged.” 8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

Today the season of fasting and prayer follows the sequence found here in the prophet Isaiah’s writings. As soon as he found himself in the presence of the Lord he recognized his unclean-ness and felt completely discombobulated. He felt every ounce of his humanity in the midst of the purity of the Most High God and it brought him to his knees.
Today we start this season of fasting and prayer with time set aside for the same reason as the prophet – for personal cleansing. Today is the day for you to remember your shortcomings, spend time confessing your sins before Him and then allow Holy Spirit apply the cleansing touch of a merciful Redeemer to your life. This should be a somber day of repentance for you. That does not mean to spend the day mulling over your past failures, but rather it is a day for you to give all of those failures and sins to God who will wash you then with the blood of Jesus and make you clean and holy again.
This week will be an entire week of cleansing in preparation for moving forward in both your relationship with Him and in your work as a believer as Light in this world of darkness. Your relationship with God can only progress as far as you will be honest with Him and allow Him to do for you the things you cannot do for yourself. Your spirit light will shine only as brightly as the cloudiness of your impurities does not dampen it. All of that said this is the week for you to come clean before your Lord and Master. Allow Him to remove the impurities from your life so you can be at peace with Him.
