Send Me: Prayer & Fasting – Day 2 – 1-10-2017
Day 2 – Tuesday 1/10 – Cleanse my: Heart – give me a heart of flesh/tender before You
14 Again the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 15 “Son of man, your brethren, your relatives, your countrymen, and all the house of Israel in its entirety, are those about whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, ‘Get far away from the Lord; this land has been given to us as a possession.’ 16 Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Although I have cast them far off among the Gentiles, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet I shall be a little sanctuary for them in the countries where they have gone.”‘ 17 Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “I will gather you from the peoples, assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.”‘ 18 And they will go there, and they will take away all its detestable things and all its abominations from there. 19 Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh, 20 that they may walk in My statutes and keep My judgments and do them; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God. 21 But as for those whose hearts follow the desire for their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their deeds on their own heads,” says the Lord God.
Today is all about your heart. Spiritually speaking, all heart problems begin in the heart. All sin originates from your heart. The side effect of sin is a hardening of your heart before God. This causes a dull ness of hearing and a slowness to react to His Spirit. It also causes you to not be able to resist temptations as well as you should. The end result of a hard heart is that you will no longer do the things which you know to do and say the things which you know to say. You will find yourself in a place, like the apostle Paul mentions, in a “straight betwixt two,” that is you will find yourself in a place where making the correct choices will be increasingly difficult. A hard heart is one which can no longer easily hear the gentle whisperings of the Holy Spirit, but His voice is drowned out by the calling of the lusts of your flesh and your own selfish desires.
The answer for a hard heart is a spiritual surgery. Today is the day for you to appeal to God to remove the hardness from your heart and replace it with a heart which is tender before Him. It is at times a very painful surgery which requires you to admit that you have become hard to His ways and then you must humble yourself to His ways and will. This type of surgery is always painful but also yields the best results.
Is your desire to be like Him? Then your heart must beat in the same manner as His. Take time today to allow the Spirit to expose the hardened areas of your heart and then ask the Great Physician to make you whole once again.
