Send Me: Prayer & Fasting – Day 3 – 1-11-2017

Day 3 – Wednesday 1/11 – Cleanse my: Hands – to do only Your bidding
Psalms 24:3-6
3 Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? 4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. 5 He shall receive blessing from the Lord, And righteousness from the God of his salvation. 6 This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face.

Take a moment to remember the most glorious moment you have spent with God. That moment stands out in your mind as nothing before or nothing since. Perhaps it was at an alter or in the living room of your home. Maybe you experienced God as never before while sitting on your favorite rock in the wood or while driving your car. Wherever that occurrence happened it has left an indelible mark on your life.
The prophet Isaiah, in chapter six of his book, records a portion of a vision in which he is allowed into the throne room of God. He does his best to describe what he is seeing and to give the readers a picture of the glory of the Most High God. You can get more word pictures in the Book of Revelation as John describes what God was showing him. Both of these men paint for you a picture of the presence of God which is so desirous that it would cause even the most shy of individuals to go rushing into that scene. See, the glory of God, His very presence is so incredible that mere words fail. The greatest desire in the heart of the believer is to be in His presence like that described in His Word. But not just anyone can go running in there!
The Psalmist take a moment to address this issue. Who gets to go in? Those who have a pure heart and clean hands. You have spent the last two days in a purification process of your heart but there is still more cleansing to do before you will be ready to hear from Him. Next comes your hands. Of course the next few days will be presented in a symbolic fashion but you will get the picture. Today, we start with the hands. Your hands represent the things which you do. Take a moment now and consider the actions over the last few days. How do they compare to what you know would be pleasing to God? Have you done things which are pleasing to Him? And also, have you done things which are displeasing to Him? Remember, He sees everything!
If you will be honest, some of your past actions have not met the purity standards described in His Word. This is not a moment to shame you but an opportunity for you to be more prepared to enter into His presence, which is the most wonderful place imaginable. No place you will ever go, no experience you will ever have can begin to compare with the presence of God. But you have to cleanse your hands first! To get real mushy about it – allow the water which flows from the throne of God wash away the filth from your actions and prepare you for the most wonderful thing you can experience this side of heaven.
