Send Me: Prayer & Fasting – Day 4 – 1-12-2017
Day 4 – Thursday 1/12 – Cleanse my: Eyes – “I will set before my eyes no vile thing”
1 I will sing of mercy and justice; To You, O Lord, I will sing praises. 2 I will behave wisely in a perfect way. Oh, when will You come to me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. 3 I will set nothing wicked before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; It shall not cling to me. 4 A perverse heart shall depart from me; I will not know wickedness. 5 Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, Him I will destroy; The one who has a haughty look and a proud heart, Him I will not endure. 6 My eyes shall be on the faithful of the land, That they may dwell with me; He who walks in a perfect way, He shall serve me. 7 He who works deceit shall not dwell within my house; He who tells lies shall not continue in my presence. 8 Early I will destroy all the wicked of the land, That I may cut off all the evildoers from the city of the Lord.
Today the focus for you is not so much on God doing a cleansing work inside of you but on you doing a personal cleaning with Holy Spirit guiding you in the process. This is a work for you to accomplish, a work that is very practical in nature and cuts to the very core of your spiritual foundation. This is the day which you will take a look around you. Take a look inside your home. Take a look at what you read. Take a look at what you watch. Even looking at the things you meditate on throughout the day. All of these things are on the table for your Spirit led evaluation. What you are looking for are those things which are a distraction in your relationship with God.
Let me be very clear. Besides those things which are specifically prohibited in the Word there is no list of “rights” and “wrongs” or a comprehensive list of sins to avoid. But there are things made available to each one of you which will serve to drive a wedge of separation between you and your Lord. Even good things can become a distraction.
In the Psalm above the emphasis is upon making sure that those sins and distractions are removed or avoided in order to make an acceptable environment for God to dwell. Today think of yourself of a sanctuary for the presence of the Most High, and evaluate everything around you to make that happen. This will take some time, probably more than you will be able to give to it in just this one day. This will be and should be an ongoing project throughout your life, but today is a great place to start.
