Send Me: Prayer & Fasting – Day 15 – 1-23-2017

Day 15 – Monday 1/23 – Send me to: Witness to the lost

Acts 1:4-8
4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Well, you have made it this far, you might as well make it the rest of the way. Disciplining yourself to prayer and fasting can be a very difficult thing. Take a moment to look back on the last couple of weeks. You very well may have already accomplished more than you ever thought possible. You are now cleaner than you have ever been before God and you have taken more time to listen to Him than you though possible. First, let me say, “good for you!” It is ok to be proud of how you have done on this journey, but you have not yet reached the destination.
This week will now turn to practical application of the last two weeks. This week you will be asked to answer the question, “Now What?”
The answer to the “now what” question has everything to do with your reaction to what you have done. In the passage today we are going to focus on two things. The first, being full of Holy Spirit. Jesus told His disciples to not begin their reaction to His instructions until they were filled with the Holy Spirit. He explained to them that there power to accomplish their task came from the Holy Spirit living inside of them, and that they should be full. This is one of the reasons why we dedicated so much time to cleansing in the first week. The Holy Spirit cannot dwell in an unclean container.
The second portion of Jesus’ instruction to them was simple to go be witnesses. Has God changed your life? Has He brought hope and peace to you? Has He healed your heart and body? Have you witnessed these kinds of things? Then your reaction is to be, you going and letting someone else know what you have experienced. That sounds so simple yet we often miss this as a vital step in our following of Christ.
Take some time today to see how you might better be a witness of the things which God has done for you and shown you during the last two weeks.
