Send Me: Prayer & Fasting – Day 18 – 1-26-2017
Day 18 – Thursday 1/26 – Send me to: Speak Your Word
44 Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” 45 And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. 46 Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 And you are witnesses of these things. 49 Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”
“Will the witness please step forward.” These are words you would normally find spoken in a courtroom. Today these are words presented as a challenge for you. Very similarly to what happens in a court of law you as a believer are being asked to be a witness of the things which you have seen, heard, and experienced along your spiritual journey. There is a world of individuals all around you that need to hear about Jesus. Many of them have either no understanding of Him or they have been taught a very mutated version of who He really is. The question for you today is will be one who will take the stand in the court of public opinion and state your personal case for Christ? Will you risk your public reputation for the sake of the spread of the Gospel?
Speaking out when others are silent can be difficult. Taking a stand which goes against the amoral tide which is sweeping our nation can be very unpopular. But Jesus promised that we would have the exact help we would need for the task. The fullness of the Holy Spirit is made available for us to empower and embolden us to take this message into a lost world. There are countless others who are groping in spiritual darkness. They all need someone who is light to come into their field of view and shed some light which will illuminate the pathway towards a loving Heavenly Father.
There is one plan Jesus left in place for the spread of the Gospel, namely you. You and thousands just like you who are going to decide to volunteer your service to Him to go and speak His Word to those who need to hear. This will take on many looks and shapes as we each receive our individual direction from Holy Spirit but it this one statement binds all, “Her and I, Send me!” spoken by Isaiah in chapter 6 of his vision. Your Heavenly Father awaits your response.
