Go Forward – Fast 2016 – Day 21

Day 21 – Shock and Awe – Exodus 14:30-31

30 So the Lord saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.

31 Thus Israel saw the great work which the Lord had done in Egypt; so the people feared the Lord, and believed the Lord and His servant Moses.

Well, congratulations, you made it to day 21. No doubt there are some of you reading this that never thought you could make it to this point. Some have said that by this time the cravings for whatever you are fasting will have subsided by now. Others have said that it has just gotten steadily worse over the last three weeks. Whatever your experience has been you have permission to be proud of your accomplishment. We all know that it has been achieved by self-control, determination and mostly by the empowerment of His Holy Spirit.

In the last two verses of the passage we see that Israel looks behind them to see the carnage of what is left of a once fearsome foe floating in the Red Sea. Their dead bodies were washing up onto the shore. The closing remarks Moses records here can be divided into three thoughts:

1) They saw the great work God had done. As we finish this time of prayer and fasting it would be good for you to take a few moments to look back and see the great things which God has done in and for you. Take time to see His hand in each day of the last weeks and recognize His mighty works.

2) They feared the Lord. If you will rightly observe the greatness of God you cannot help but be in awe of Him. Like the song says, “Our God is an Awesome God…” He really is. His works are mighty, none of them are weak and anemic. He had done great things because He is a great God. Have an awesome respect for who He is not just for the things He can do.

And finally,

3) They believed. Hopefully over the course of this year’s fast you have grown closer to God and so your belief in Him has also grown. There is no God like Jehovah. There is none that can hold a hope against Him. There is nothing remotely similar to Him in the entire universe. All who oppose Him will be blown away, all who trust in Him will be saved. It is a simple lesson which has such a great impact in your life. Believe in Him and Go Forward with Him!

Now Go Forward and be Godly!

Go Forward – Fast 2016 – Day 20

Day 20 – It’s Different for the Child of God – Exodus 14:29

29 But the children of Israel had walked on dry land in the midst of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

Did you notice that the Red Sea experience was a little different for the Israelites than it was for the Egyptians? One group came out rejoicing, and singing (if you read ahead to the next chapter). And the other group…well we will just say that it did not end so well for them.

Just one quick observation for you today. As a child of the Most High God you can fully expect that things will come out different for you than it will for those who choose not to follow after Him. This is not to say that there will not be hard times for you, but if you will have courage and faith enough to wait on God you will definitely reap the benefits. You have the history of God’s people right in your hands. When they follow hard after Him they were blessed – every time. You can expect the same. Please do not misunderstand here. We do not follow after God so that He will bless us but when we are faithful to follow He is faithful to bless and deliver.

Firmly set your mind to follow diligently after God and you shall live an obviously blessed life!
